Audience and Institution Essay

1. Assess the importance of marketing in the media area you have studied.

There are many different things that makes marketing important in the film industry. Marketing for films can provide the films to gain interest from consumers so that they can profit well when they are released because many people will know about it and possibly be interested in the film due to the marketing of the film. Marketing is usually one of the primary components when it comes to gaining interest for a film in the film industry. In my personal experience, the different marketing ideas that movies have done especially when they incorporate their movies with video games have caught my attention many times because of what they can produce with the games. 

For a long time, film industries have done marketing in many ways to gain interest for the movies so that people could come and watch them. For example, for the Spiderman homecoming movie, the marketing team for this movie used toys and other products as a way to get kids to want to watch the movie. They also used the new Spiderman game for the ps4 to create hype for the movie. They also teamed up with cinnamon toast crunch in which the cereal brand sponsored their movie on their boxes. Due to them marketing their movie on many different platforms, they were able to have a huge premier that was ranked high on the box office charts. 

Another movie that blew up in interest due to the marketing for it is Black panther.  Based on the Black Panther case study, one way they used marketing was when Marvel studios hosted a New York fashion week event, where pieces inspired by the movie were presented and showcased. This is way on how they tried to market their movie due to them promoting their clothing wear at the fashion event where people could see them and appreciate the different form of art they were showcasing. This marketing strategy possibly led to people being interested in the clothing wear and to actually go out and see the movie to admire how they would look in the film. Another way the film producers marketed the black panther movie was by introducing clothes and various other products for the film, which brought more excitement and interest to the movie. The marketing for the black panther movie made the movie gain much publicity and attention from all over the world, which made it one of the top grossing superhero films of all time. 

Another movie that blossomed due to the marketing of the film was the Jurassic World movie. The producers of the movie marketed this film on different platforms that would get attention from different consumers such as the Lego industry, in which they made announcements of a Lego set and video game based on the movie, which would catch the attention of buyers and possibly get them to check out the movie in itself. The company also decided to re-release older Jurassic movies that would bring up the revenue and the hype of the newer movie. These marketing strategies gave the movie a lot more publicity and made more people get into the Jurassic industry, which made it become the third largest grossing movie of all time. 

The Furious 7 is another movie that boomed in interest due to the marketing of the movie when it was bound to be released. The producers of this film marketed this movie making a video game with the Forza Horizon industry in which they called it Forza Horizon 2 presents Fast and Furious. This marketing idea was promoted on video game platforms in which people who bought the game found an interest in the movie due to the correlation of the film and the video game series. Another way the producers were able to market this movie was by releasing the trailer at a special Red-Carpet event called “Road To Furious 7: Trailer Launch Event.” The fans were able to watch the trailer and ask the cast questions during the event. This marketing idea gave the movie much more attention due to its appearance at a big event platform and having the audience interact with the cast gave it much more publicity than it already had. 

In conclusion, marketing is one of the most important things that is needed in the film industry. Marketing puts companies' movies out into the world so that consumers could see and become interested in the movie. Top movies wouldn’t be as popular as they are today if it was not for the different marketing ideas implemented into them to attract an audience. 

Extract practice-Game of Thrones

The author’s vision is to show the perseverance and the struggles that the men have gone through while being out at sea. The author also shows on how the higher-ups of a society have the power to dictate in different situations including life and death. He then shows on how the higher ups decide not to help them due to them losing what little they already had. 

The first scene of the extract shows an ariel shot of the men on a ship, moving towards an island with an accompanied statue surrounded by the ocean. This shows on how their long adventure brings them to the newly seemed promise land civilization that could possibly help them with their issues and problems. The diegetic sounds of the water and seagulls when they’re on the ocean shows that their travel has brought  them near land in which they could get help for their situation. The setting is on an island surrounded by the ocean which shows the different objects surrounding the area they come from a place far away with new surroundings. The scene then uses a jump cut from showing the island to them being in a place which shows their journey all the way to their destination in which they’ve been traveling to seek help from. 

The costumes the men are wearing in the next scene are old looking clothing that everyone was wearing which shows that the events took place long ago due to the ancient looking clothing. The dialog from the two men sitting in front of the three men talking about their struggles which shows on why the three men said their decision on why they won’t help them with their struggles. The cutaway from the two men talking to the people sitting in their chairs which shows the decision the men made to the other two men. Then the over the shoulder shot of the man listening to his partner claiming him to be a leader with perseverance and that fights with struggles to be the new leader. 

I am right on what the directors vision is because he just wants to point out and show how the men have struggled by the way they explain it to other three men and how the higher ups have the power to get them through a life or death situation. This vision was shown throughout the entirety of the extract. 

CCR Questions

This is my CCR questions for the final task of Aice media.This CCR answers everything about my final task project of the class. This project concluded the first portion of the class . This journey during this year has been a long and tough one but I got through with success. This class has taught me many things on what it means to film and produce . Working with the same group all year has taught me much more on team work . I had fun filming the films that we did and making other projects with in this class. Now all I can do is wait for the second part of my class so that I can finish it all together. This year has been fun learning many things in Aice media.

This concludes the journey of the 1st segment of Aice media. We will begin working on the 2nd segment soon enough and hope it will be as successful.

Haphephobia movie

This was our final project that we did for Aice media. Our group and I decided to make a action packed/ sci-fi movie that that would be about surviving in a new world.We filmed all of our scenes by the location of my house because the different scenery it contained that could benefit our film. We filmed different scenes that were needed for the script our movie that involved each one of us.When we messed up we would just re-shoot the scene so that we could finish it all up . After filming all the scenes, we each looked over the scenes that we would use for our film. We sent the scenes to our group member so that he could edit them together so that they could like an actual trailer for a film. After he sent us the final product of the film, we were very satisfied with the results. Making the film was very fun and it taught me more about filming through the process.

One thing I learned about in this project was team work. We each had to keep in touch with each other so that we could know when to film and if there were any complications if we couldn't film. We worked together to make a great film and were very satisfied with the outcome of our film.

Music video

This was my group and I second project that we did for Aice media. We were tasked to make a music video with any from our choosing. We chose the song under the sun by J.Cole and decided to make a video in which we would be in a under the sun. We all dressed up in street wear clothing that we were comfortable with. We all gathered in a lighted part of my neighborhood and shot the video with my phone. We took many scenes for our song for the times we messed up on our lip sync or there were passing vehicles in the way interrupting the video. We recorded all the scenes on our phone because we did not have a camera but the phone had a sufficient enough camera quality so that we could record. After we recorded all the scenes, we sent them to our group member so that he could edit them to make the full song

The thing I learned form this project was about scheduling. We ran into many predicaments with us being on time to shoot the music video because of poor time management and scheduling. This made the project much more prolonged than it was meant to be.

Nike commercial

This is our first project my group and I did in Aice media. This project introduced all the qualities and technologies that were involved with the class that would help my group and I throughout the entire year. This first project involved making a commercial for any product or company that we chose to do. We chose to do a commercial on Nike products. We utilized all the things we learned on the use of the camera and productivity between everything we had to do. My group and I went out to our school's track and filmed all of our scenes there. While recording with camera, I learned different features on the camera like slowing down the scene and brightening or dimming the scene. We took many shots for our commercial because we were messing up many times on the moves.

After we were done filming our scenes, we went back up to the classroom to look at all our scenes so we could pick out the scenes we were using. We made a plan to make our project look as good as possible with the skill we had at the time. This was the first day I got a taste of what Aice media really was. Filming Blog

During this period of time, I have been doing work and following instructions to move forward for my exam. The Coronavirus pandemic has really altered the way that we can learn and get information from our teachers. They give us updates on what Cambridge says for the exam and guides us to get all of our work completed. It is not that easy to get all the information from our teachers to know exactly what do, but I manage with what I can get. As time moves forward, we will just keep preparing our work to then turn it in to Cambridge. My group and I have already finished our film and peer reviews and we now move on to our CCRs. I am hoping that everything goes smoothly with my CCR and that we get more information on our exams, Time is running out or everything to be completed.  The Coronavirus can cause many changes to happen over the next few days so we have to prepare for any changes. The journey that we have been on has been a long one and I am just happy we are almost fully completed.

I hope that things get better around the world and around me so that everything goes normal and we could proceed with what we were doing before.This pandemic has made a hault to everything in the world and it is deteriorating the daily order for everyone. Editing blog

For our film, my group members went over many options in which we wanted to edit our scenes in. We decided to change up our scenes that weren't visually appealing or that just weren't needed. After Aridsondez finished all the editing, he sent us the film so we could look at it. We were satisfied with the film and told him to submit it. Later the next day we came into class to do our peer reviews. We each reviewed another group's film. Their film was very good and had all the essentials needed for a film. We each did our peer review and gave it to the group so that they can see the feedback.We got our feedback from another group so that we could see our results. They said that our film was good and interesting. After doing the peer reviews, our teacher gave us instructions to move on to the next phase for our exams.

Now for the rest of the time, we just wait for further instructions to go on with our exam. My group and I have come a long way working together and have had much success with our projects. We hope that we do well on the exams and that the examiners are satisfied with our work. Our teacher has helped us along the way to success. Overall, I am happy with the progress of our group and the overall work we have done. Below will be a picture of one of the scenes being edited for our film:

Reshoot Blog (Haphephobia)

For my group's film, Haphephobia, we decided to re-shoot some of our scenes for our film because every scene was already done but a little wrong and we had already finished our film. Every scene that we shot that day when we decided to film was what we needed for our movie. After we shot all the scenes, we transferred all the clips to Aridsondez so that he could go home and edit it. Aridsondez was the only one that had an editing software available at his home. After shooting our film, we just decided to focus on the next steps in our plan for Cambridge. We went over many things such as our CCRs and other materials need ed for cambridge. We hope that that the time comes when we will be able to be completely done with filming so that we can move on to the next phase of our project. My group members and I have been working since the beginning of the school year to get everything done. We have spent a long time together and have done very well with working with each other. We hope that everything pays off and that we can all pass with the work we have done.

After all of our filming was completed and our film was done, we just waited for further instructions to move on.Our teachers guided us all the way to where we needed to be . My group and I have worked for the entire year. We just hope it all pays off in the end. Below will be a picture of a scene we re-shot for our film:

Re-Editing Blog (Fixing Titles)

While watching our film, my group and I realized that the titles for our film were streamlined and in the wrong order so we now we have to go back and fix them. This process won't be easy because only one of our group members has an editing software that can do the job. We showed which titles had to be redone so that the film looked smooth. We hope that the titles come out better after our group member, Aridsondez, fixes them. During the day of our peer review, my group came in and we each got our own sheet for peer reviewing. Once the group that was reviewing our film was done, they came up to us to give us their feedback. They explained how the titles were not put through the whole film and were only in certain parts. Our group did not realize we had to do this. Our editor squeezed titles together because we all thought that was necessary. That small mistake could have cost us many points off when it was time for the examiners to review our film. Luckily the peer review showed us the mistake and allowed our editor to back and fix the problem. After he finishes that we won't have to worry anymore about our film because everything will be set and complete. Below will be a photo of a scene being edited to change the title:

Filming blog

For my groups film, we filmed all the scenes we jotted down on our storyboard and brought them to life on our film. After we filmed all of our scenes, we let our Aridsondez go home and edit the entire film. He sent it in our group chat where we looked over it to make sure it was good. If we all agreed on something we didn't like in the film, we would ask him to tweak it a bit so it could look better. After we agreed on the way the entire film, we submitted to our teacher so that he could look over it. When we got back to class the next day , we had to review another groups film for peer review. There film was called the chase and it had a very interesting story line. We all wrote down what we liked about it and what they could've done to make it look better. We gave them our feedback and another gave us their feedback on our film.

After all the things we have done for our film, my group and I are just happy to be over with filming. We worked hard and put in hours to get our film the way we wanted it to be. We hope our teacher likes our film and the Cambridge examiners. Below will be a scene from our film "Haphephobia":
