Editing blog (music video)

After shooting the clips for our music video, we sent all the footage to our group member Arisondez to edit because he was the only one out of all of us to that had an editing software. When he said he was nearly completed with editing the whole video, Marckins told him to bring the footage of the edited to show it us to see if we would be satisfied. Arisondez first had to edit the song that we chose onto the video so that it could sync with the video. He then showed us a clip on when we recorded a part of the song during night time and used an edit to capture the sun to then switch it over to daytime. Every time in the video it was time to switch roles so each member could say their part, he used an edit to introduce us so we could go along our part. Arisondez also had to down play the quality of the video because it was shot in 4k and needed to be dropped to 1080 p so he could properly edit it on his computer. He also added a black background with the title of the song and our names on it to then transition into the video, which a very clean effect.

After looking at the whole music video; and finding we had extra time to edit the video, we all came up with ideas to make our video look better. Marckins and I came up with the idea to add aglow to our bodies which we detail us more. We also decided to let Arisondez fix the transition edits because they were a little choppy. He also wanted to re-sync the song in the video so that it can look better with the way we were rapping it.  After all these decisions, we agreed to everything and decided to let Arisondez do his job.

All in all, our music video will eventually come along very well and hope it will give us a grade that we are hoping for. My group and I put a lot of hard work in and we can't wait to see the results of our final project.

Filming process (Music video)

During the filming process for our music video, we took simple procedures to get the filming done as soon as possible. Since Mr. Katz gave us the go ahead on using our phone to record the video, we planned to film once everybody was on board with the plan. On the first day of filming, only Marckins and I were available to film our parts that day. Arisondez had difficulty with transportation to our location so he couldn't get there until later that day. Marckins and I decided to just start filming our parts with the lighting that we had. After taking some shots of Marckins part, Arisondez comes later on by night time. Since it was already dark and we didn't that much filming done anyways, we decided to group up at the same location to shoot the music video.

The next day, Marckins came to the same location by my house to start filming again. Since it was daytime and there was a lot of sunlight present, which corresponds with the song "Under the Sun", we decided it would be a perfect time to start filming. I recorded some takes of Marckins saying his lines of the song and after recording we decided to choose the best version of the ones we shot. Later on, Arisondez arrived at our location so we could shoot each of our parts and finish the music video all together. Since me and Arisondez had the same phone, we decided to shoot the rest off of his because he would be the one doing the editing of the video. After we shot my part of the song, we went on to shoot Arisondez's part. It took a few takes to shoot Arisondez part because he did not remember most of his lines. The last part was shooting my part which was the part of the hook of the song. Once we were done with all the recordings, we sent all the videos to Arisondez so he could go home and edit the video on his computer.

Shooting this music video was a very fun and intriguing experience. I'm glad to have group members such as Marckins and Arisondez and the hard work that we all did.

Storyboard

The storyboard of  our music video was set up to give us an idea of we will be doing for our music video. The story board also sets up the different time schedules that will be arranged to go with the production of our music video. Our storyboard gives us all we need so we could be able to shoot our music video properly. It also give us an insight on what we will have to do with the a camera and other things so we would be able to do this video. Starting off with the camera angles, these will include with many up close shots to our faces and our whole body shots. We will also try to take long distance shots to get a good view of the whole environment and all of us together. The different camera angles we will take depends on the setting we are in at the time. Most likely we will be going for front view/close up angles and wide view angles  so it would match together with the song we chose. We also agreed upon that we will most likely use panning shots most of the time of the video so it the camera could follow use while we're walking.

For the different shots we will be taking, our group decided that we will most likely be focused on close up and long shots with our video. The close ups will focus on the main person of the video at the time and add detail to that person to make them show out more. The long shots is to either get all of us in a shot with each other or to get a better view of the environment that we are in.

The editing of our video will be pretty simple and easy. All we have to do is edit the song in the background of our a video and fit all the scenes together so we could make it in the 1 minute and 15 seconds time frame. The song will be enhanced in way to add more depth to it while we're recording. This will happen because we want the song to sound clean and proper when it is time to edit it in our video.

Planning blog for music video

For my groups's music video, we have already planned out the music video and how it will be arranged. The location of the music video will settle in the area of my home in Fort Lauderdale. We chose this are because there is a lot of open space to shoot the music video, the song we chose, Under the sun, is based off of the setting off the streets, and that the area provides sunlight to shoot the video. The only problem the group saw with this location was that it may be too far for the other members to get there, but in the end they all arranged ways to get to the location so we could shoot the video properly. Now going on to health and safety, we already decided everything with that as a group. The only issue we saw with that was that we would be along streets with a possibility of cars moving and passing by. Because of this issue we decided to shoot at a time around noon so not that many cars would be passing by.

In our music video, we will use different props to accommodate the theme of the . The props will include a car which will start off the beginning of the music video. We will also include a basketball in which one of us will be playing basketball while the song is playing. The last prop we will use is a phone so we could get a shot of one of us rapping while supposedly speaking to someone on the phone. We did not include that many props because it is not needed and the theme of the song does not include props with it. Hopefully we will be able to have all of these props when the time comes to record the video. The costumes that we will be using are very generic and really just regular clothing. In the original video, the rappers are wearing clothes that naturally wear on a daily basis, so we just decided to wear something we were all comfortable in.

The schedule of the video will go in a regular fashion. First day we will start of by recording ourselves all sitting on a car. We then move on to us playing basketball at a later time of the day at basketball court. After the basketball shots, we will record a scene of all of us walking along the street together while staring at the camera. Right after that shot has been handled with, we will shoot a scene with one of us being on our phone. Then we will wrap up the video with all of us shaking hands while the sun is setting to get a great scene for the video.

Intro to new project

Our group just finished the commercial project that was assigned to us by our teacher. It was an enjoyable time making the video with all the sporting equipment and my group members. It was also very relieving to finally see the end results of all of our hard work. With this new project I feel like it's gonna be very fun because it involves on e of my favorite topics, music. We are looking more into the rap genre because that's the type of music our group enjoys the most.

The song our group decided to our project on was Ballin by Roddy Ricch. We chose this song because we feel like it is a very smooth and appealing song that would be enjoyable to us and anybody that listened to it. It is very popular song which racked up many views in the first few weeks it came out.We would certainly have to go with the clean version of the song because the original contains a lot of profanity. We already started deciding on the different features that will be included for the production and will put it down in the clamps format.

1.The costumes will likely be a tank top, shorts, and some type of good branded shoes or open toed shoes. This attire will go with the vibe of the song and keep it enjoyable.

2.The lighting will be under the sun and be very bright. We want to obtain a California type of environment because that is where the song is based upon.

3. The acting has not been decided yet. We were going to go with a gangster type of vibe which is what the song is basically about.

4. We will not be doing any makeup. We will already be under the sun so it just doesn't seem right to do make up.

5. The props will contain a car and money. This will go with the gangster vibe we are trying to approach.

6. The scenery will be located in the streets. It is what the song is mostly talking about.

The sounds will be mostly from the song and any added sounds that we find that could go with it. Editing will contain cut scenes to to show the whole viewing of all of our props and the streets the video will be shotin.

Editing

Today we didn't edit any part of our video because the editing software was not working. My group member, Aridsondez, edited a part of our video at his home. He showed us a clip of the start of the video he edited and it was actually pretty good. We then decided to continue editing in class the next time we were in there, but unfortunately the software was down. The footage that we dumped on our computer was each shared to our google docs so we would be able to edit at our own homes if possible. The teacher explained to us that we just need to put down what we did today because we couldn't edit. Next class we will try to complete the editing process of our video so it can be finished entirely. We will each try to edit a section of the video so it can be faster to get the video done. Hopefully, the whole process goes through without any complications.

When we came into class today, the teacher just explained to us that we can't use the software so just make a blog about what we did today. We all just sat down on our computer and each wrote our blog down about what happened. We came up with a plan to do on our video in the future. Aridsondez will try to get as much editing at his house because he's is the only one with a accessible editing software. In class, our group member, Marckins, and I will edit the rest of our video in class to split up the workload between us. We’ll eventually finish the editing and review our video thoroughly. We will know if we complete our video once it satisfies our expectations.

In conclusion, today was much of a free day. Our group has already come up with a plan to finish our video as soon as possible. We all expect our video to come out good because of the films we took. Today was an easy day and gave us skittle break from all of our work. But next time, we will work hard to get our film done so it can be acceptable to our teacher.

Filming Process Blog

The filming of our commercial was a steady and enjoyable process to go through during that day. We first started off by getting our equipment and setting up the camera for the filming. While the recorder is setting up the camera, the actor is putting up on the products that will be advertised in the  commercial. After everything was set up, we decided to record the actor running along the track circle to portray the sport track and field. The recorder had to make sure to stop the recording at the right time to make sure there is enough footage to put into the commercial and not too much to overlap the recording of the other sports. We had to do a few takes because the recorder was not moving the camera fast enough to keep up with the speed of the runner. There was also minor complications in the recording due to the lighting of the environment so that involved in a few takes as well. After coming back from the run, our actor would then show off the shoe to to portray its qualities.

Next sport we did was football. The thrower wore a Nike headband to portray as one of the products. The headband was chosen to give off a better looking style for the thrower. We went on the field to then get ready to start recording. When the recorder gave us the thumbs up, the receiver then ran down the field to catch the incoming football. This part took much longer compared to the other sports because the receiver continuously kept dropping the ball which was taking up our time. After the actions with the football, we then came into the camera to show off the qualities of the headband, the football, and the shoes that were involved.

The last sport we did was basketball. We first started off by dribbling the ball a few times. We showed off fancy dribble moves to give an outlook on how the Nike shoes gives off movement and grip to execute these moves. Each of us had our own turn in dribbling so we can all show our own moves with our Nike shoes. We then started doing fancy passes to give more style to the video. We planned on editing the video so that a part of doing the pass would be put together to the person receiving it. After doing the basketball segment, the two main actors cam into the camera holding up the balls and wearing the accessories to then end off the commercial by saying Nike'slogan, just do it.We then packed up all of our things to go and head back to class. Once we got to class, we dumped all of our recording on one of our accounts to then be used for future editing.

Storyboard

The image shown above is the storyboard that will be used to coordinate our commercial. This storyboard shows how we will display each sport and the order we’re supposed to follow in which we present each sport. They will involve one person doing each sport, one cameraman, and a possible timer to keep track on how long that certain sport should take. This will all be dealt with in a period of a few days.

The time span in which each sport will take depends on the sport. The maximum time each sport will take is most likely 5-7 minutes. We will start off with track and field and football to display the effectiveness of the product in which it hydrates our athlete. We will then continue on with soccer and football, in which it will display the use of the product and how it functions. Lastly, we will end off with showing off the clothes and the bottle of the product to highlight it overall.

In conclusion, this storyboard helps us on arranging and organizing our series of events that we will take in the next coming days. Although we have everything planned, we must prepare for in case it rains or we will not be able to go outside. If something does occur in which we will not be able to go out, we will rearrange our plans and set them indoors. We will keep the same procedures and film indoors in a proper manner. After that we will then utilize the pinnacle software to then edit and complete our commercial.

Editing Lesson Blog

During the lesson that happened today, I learned about how to use and handle the camera and how to edit the videos we record of the camera. The first thing we learned about was how to sign out our equipment to then use to record. We then went over procedures to handle the camera and the tripod that is included with it. The camera needs to be taken care of accordingly and used properly so there are no problems with it when it is handed back in. The tripod that was shown involved straight forward rules like when moving to a far distance. We also learned the movements of the tripod to properly get the right view of our video. With the tripod, moving it side to side is called pan. Moving the tripod forward and backwards is called tilt. To use the camera on the tripod, you have to unscrew to the plate of the tripod and screw it onto the camera. After finishing with the camera, you must remove the camera from the tripod, push in all the legs of the tripod, and then put everything back in the bag.

The second part of the lesson was learning how to import our footage into a folder. First, we open pinnacle studios, click edit, then import our video. We then press the plus sign next to the word desktop and click the file where we stored our footage. After starting the import, the teacher mad it clear to wait until all the footage is uploaded so that it doesn’t get messed up. We then learned to edit the raw footage we took. The AV Track 1 is used to insert the titles, AV Track 2 is used for building the recorded film, and AV Track 3 is for the audio of the film. The teacher showed us an example of how to cut a clip down. We move the play bar to the position where we want to cut the clip after we click the blade to split the clip and delete anything that is unneeded. The teacher stated that when we’re filming to get film extra parts so if we accidentally delete anything  we can replace it.

Last, we learned to use special effects in our film. We right click on one of the clips then click special effects and click on one of the clips. In the special affects menu we will be able to add color, different transitions, and other things. The teacher then demonstrated how to use voiceovers, which will allow us to make our film more unique.

Research blog: Commercial Conventions

There are many types of codes and conventions that are included in the advertisement of any Nike products or appliances. There are certain things that can presented in this type of commercial to give a meaning to it and show you want. These types of things are called conventions and codes.

Codes presented in Nike commercials vary from the type of sport or product they're portraying. With sport related products, they usually include many different slides of people playing sports that with that product can advance the way they play, or products that can fully replenish and keep them going through that particular activity. These codes give of the expression that their products will give you a better performance, allow you to feel very comfortable while playing, and replenish you to keep going.

Conventions shown in Nike commercials also depends on the sport or activity being portrayed. When looking at a product that Nike is advertising, you expect the product to be top quality and provide peak performance. Nike is usually the best of the best when it comes to sports appliances. There should be statistics showing on how the product can improve yourself and short viewings of the product in action to fully get the viewers attention

Planning Blog

The industry we will base our commercial is on Nike's. The props we will be using is a basketball, Nike accessories, a football, and hurdles. Our costumes will involve Nike shoes, a Nike headband, Nike socks, and shorts. First day, we will set up all our props around in there specific areas that accommodate that certain sport.

We'll planning on filming all of our outside activities first in case the weather isn't good. The focus of each scene is going to me the Nike shoes at first the when the actor says "Just do it" then focus will change according to the sport. We're going to start with track using the hurdles that are already there. We going to using a low camera angles as one of us says "Just do it" then runs and jumps over the hurdle. Then we'll planning on going on the football field to record a football being thrown then track it while it's in the air and edit it to be in the air for a little longer. We're going to the soccer field to record the ball being kicked into a goal. Then we're going to try to head into the gym to film a crossover to get past the defender to make a shot. To finish the commercial we're going to edit in a black background with text that says "Nike, Just Do It."

Our back up plan depends on the the sport we will be displaying on that day. If in the case that it is raining when we are supposed to portray one of our sports on our day, we will either film in an outside place with a roof cover such as the school stairwell or we'll just try to shoot in Mr.Katz classroom. Also in the case if someone is absent on that day, we'll just pick up the person's slack.  If any other type of complications should happen while we are supposed to be filming, we'll just adjust our schedule to make sure we will be able to film on the same day with no delay.

Introductory

Hello, my name is Quincy K. Joseph and I am a student at Fort Lauderdale high school. I am a sophomore that is enrolled in the Pre-Law magnet program. I take 2 AICE classes and 2 honor classes at school. I feel that my time at this school has helped me developed into the person that I am today. In my past school years, I had a teacher that told me that grades do not matter and it will not help me get far in my future. But at my time at Fort Lauderdale, I learned that grades basically determine your future and show higher educational and work places the work you do. I learned to work hard, and by doing that will give me results that I am satisfied with. This school has developed me academically in great ways. I hope the rest of my years will make me into an educated and great person in the future.

At home, I feel very relaxed and comfortable. I usually stay in bed if I'm not doing anything, listening to music or watching shows on my phone. But when I am feeling a productive, I do my homework, do chores around the house, or even help my family members with their things. I would occasionally go outside to play basketball at the court or play a game of catch with my friends. Home just makes me feel free from all my worries of the outside world. My house stores everything I need to get through my day such as food to even entertainment. My home also has the people I care for the most in the world and provides them everything they need. Home is just the most comfortable place to me and I would not give that place up for anything.

Out of my family, I am the youngest of 6 siblings and I live with both of my parents. Starting off with my parents, they are both from haitian descent. My mother is quite strict and expects the best from all of her children. My father is very aggravating but I know he does everything he does out of love. My siblings are very unreliable, but when they do something for me it is very meaningful. My whole family is pretty weird, but I love them anyways. I wouldn't trade them for anything else.
